Finally, Meditation Personal Trainers have had their Meditation teaching course fully endorsed by REPS
(The Register of Exercise Professionals)!
This might not sound like a very big deal. But it is, especially to me. I have always wanted my course fully endorsed by an official body that, as a Personal Trainer, I highly respect. This is what REP’s, their course assessors and their endorsers (Skills Active) really are.
For those who don’t know (and as a UK Personal Trainer you should know about them!) REPs is an independent, public register. They recognise the qualifications and expertise of health-enhancing exercise instructors in the UK. REPs provides a system of regulation for instructors and trainers to ensure that they meet the health and fitness industry’s agreed National Occupational Standards.
Basically, any good PT worth their low sodium salt wants to be on the REPs register. The is because REPS was developed to protect the public from Personal Trainers who do not hold appropriate qualifications. As well as protecting the public, REPS was also established to recognise the qualifications and skills of exercise professionals.
Therefore, REPS makes sure all their PT’s are bona fide and fully qualified and also insured. And now they also fully endorse and promote our MPT teaching course!
Not only that, REPS will award 16 CPD Points for all Personal Trainers who pass our course.
Once again, does it matter? Yes! Personal Trainers are required by REPS to have Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Points. This shows they are exercise professionals who demonstrate that they continue to learn and develop throughout their careers, keep their skills and knowledge up to date and are able to work safely, legally and effectively. Why would you use a Personal Trainer who doesn’t update their skills yearly with CPD and isn’t a member of REPS?
Unfortunately, as the law currently stands, anybody (and I mean absolutely anyone!) can teach Meditation or Mindfulness in the UK. Even worse, that same anybody can set up a course to teach other people to then teach Meditation/Mindfulness! They may even give them a certificate to say that they are qualified to teach.
However, there is only one Meditation Personal Trainer course. We offer two full days (16 hours) Meditation instruction with teaching workshops on an approved and accredited course by the Register of Exercise Professionals.
